Which forms/documents are needed to open a checking account with direct deposit?

What is the process for opening this account, and how long does it take?
Which forms/documents are needed to open a checking account with direct deposit?
You don't say what country, but in the US typically you just need ID and social security number and cash or check for initial deposit. Some banks may allow you to open an account online. If you use a check for opening the account, there may be a holding period to make sure the check clears before you can use the money.

Arrange the direct deposit with your employer or whoever will be doing that. You will need routing number and account number (typically at bottom of a check). Do not include the check number, and do NOT use the routing number from a deposit slip (which is different).
