How can I manage my money without a bank account?

Having a bank account is good if I deposit a good amount and get interest but I only have a part time job so I would like to not to have any bank accounts and would like to save money.
How can I manage my money without a bank account?
A savings account will EARN interest. The only other two ways I can think of are to just cash your checks and hoard it some where, or set up a pre-paid card. None of which will give you more money.

Having a part time job, in my opinion, is a reason to avoid a bank. It actually becomes easier if your employer offers direct deposit. Once that kicks in, you don't have to actually go in the bank on payday to deposit or cash your check. Some banks even offer ATM cards with savings accounts. You may not be able to use them at cash registers, but you can still get cash in your wallet.

Whatever you decide, good luck.
Reply:Well, it doesn't really matter if its a small amount of money or a large amount of money. It would still be gaining money.
Reply:Try a credit union. They are non-profit organizations with minimal maintenance fees. Paying with cash isn't a bad way to go but it doesn't help you establish credit which you will eventually need to buy a house or car - unless you pay cash for them. If you rent an apt., leasers want to see credit history and stability. Cash leaves no trails so unless you're hiding out from the feds, I'd open up an account at the credit union.
Reply:Just get an account anyway. They are free and a lot more convenient than storing all your cash in a box or something. That's just asking to be stolen.
