Has anyone else received an email from Yahoo stating that account information has to be updated?

I received one today. It asked for my email address and password. Asking for my password seems really fishy to me. It said if I didn't respond in seven days, my account would be deleted. Has anyone else received this email? Is it safe? Thanks for your help.

It's a scam. Yahoo! would never request personal information in an unsolicited email. "Phishing" for your private information These deceptive emails are used to commit identity theft, and lock you out of your yahoo account by changing your password DO NOT respond. See link below.

You can forward the email to.

Reply:Absolutely not! That's a phishing email. Don't reply to the message and give out your personal information to total strangers or you'll risk losing your account to them. Remember that Y! doesn't send unsolicited emails to all its users, as the company already has that stored in its well-secured servers. Go report the message here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya...

Choose Fraud as the reason for the violation you're reporting on.

After that, spam it straight into oblivion without delay.
Reply:I say delete it, it's probably a phishing scam. No one should ever ask for account information via email.

Good rule of thumb for ANY service asking this information is to go to their homepage, log in, and edit your information there. Be safe!

I hope this helps.
Reply:DO NOT reply. This is a phishing scam attempting to get you to give them all your personal info. It's not from Yahoo, just delete it and ignore it. Good luck and be careful.
Reply:yes i did a few months ago i put it in spam yahoo wouldn't ask for information so don't give information out
