Does anyone know of a legit, at home bookkeeping or account job?

I am looking for an at home data entry, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting job. I have experience, and a home work station. Any suggestions?

Start your own business providing small business bookkeeping services. I did for over 20 years.

You will have to look for clients - check the yellow pages for small businesses of a type you are familiar with, find out if any of your friends know small business owners, maybe join the local Chamber of Commerce. Then approach the owner of the company to find out if they are interested in contracting out their bookkeeping.

You need to decide how much you will charge, how you will collect and return their paperwork, and how often you will meet with them to keep them updated.

I had some clients that only required about 1 - 2 days of work every 3 months, some required 2 - 3 days/month and some that were 2 - 3 days/week. I could work as much or as little as I wanted. The downside was that it took a lot of planning when I wanted to go away on holidays.

Good luck.
Reply:Well, the other 2 answers here are scam come-ons in my opinion.

Bookkeeping and accounting requires skill and experience, and since you are processing someone's personal financial information, also requires integrity and responsibility.

Any prospective employer (whoever you expect to pay you) will expect you to be able to meet these standards. Are you prepared to do that?

If you actually DO have the requisite skill and experience, I recommend you post a notice on Craigslist, and also go introduce yourself to as many CPA firms as you can. They are in a position to recommend your services to their clients.
