I'm trying to figure out what collection agency holds my account. Is there any way to do that? They called me on the phone once, and I got to see first hand how they will treat ppl to get money as fast as possible. I was advised by a consolidater not to talk to them on the phone at all. The consolidater couldn't really do much to lower my payments to the collection agency, so he told me to just mail them what I could in payments until I could get the entire amount to them. Only problem is I never got the name or address of the collection agency and I don't even have the number to them anymore. I want to mail them (so I have paper copies of everything) and ask them to send me something that shows how much I owe and where it all comes from (intrest, etc...) and also to mail payments. Can anyone tell me how to find out which IOWA collection agency would have my old credit card account? Thanks!

You can order a credit report and your creditors contact information will be on there.


Once you contact them I suggest trying to settle for a lower amount. Keeping good records is very important, however, do NOT mail the company personal checks, try using money orders (that way they do not have your checking account information). Or giving them any of your work information- They can uses these pieces of information to garnish wages, of levy bank accounts if you end up not paying them in full.
Reply:I'd say don't worry, they'll find you. If your getting calls though, it only makes sense that they provide you with an address to mail payment. You need to tell them to send you a bill with a total amount due, the interest being charged and give you a date payment will be due. Keep very good records of payments made. If your making regular monthly payments, they need to stop calling you.

Reply:I think they can eventually 'attach your wages' It would not come directly from you checking account but it would come out of your pay check or ssi check. The best thing would be to go down to the traffic court and they always lower the amount or put you on a payment program, I had to pay $5 a month for a $90 overdue ticket that got knocked down to a $40 ticket. I just paid it all off at once. You DO NOT want an over due bill to go through collections, a few threats from the Collections is ok, but eventually your credit will be screwed because of this. If you feel you do not owe the money, sometimes it may be worth getting an attorney.
Reply:Only if they have a judgment against you. And, only if you have your SSI deposited into your checking account. They cannot garnish your SSI, but, once it hits a bank account, they can take a portion of it. They cannot do this though, until they sue you and get a judgment.

The only way to keep yourself safe from them getting your information, is to make sure you do not give out your information to anyone.


Only open mail when you are absolutely certain who send them, and treat all others as spam.


Go only to wedsites that you know are safe and can be trusted.


If at a website and you must sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you notices, info, or ads.

I have used 4 out of the 5 authorizations on my itunes, 3 of the computers i do not use anymore. Im about to get a new laptop and i dont want to use my final authorization. Is there any way to deauthorize my old computers?

Can the government take money out of your childs bank account?

I have heard stories of the government taking money from childrens bank accounts when their parents are on state benefits. Surely they can't do this without consent. I have twice heard this. One was apparently for the amount of 拢50.00 and the other for 拢10.00. If this is true then they are teaching the children the lesson that it is not worth saving your money as it is not safe.

There is a limit to the amount that can be paid into a childs account without attracting tax on the interest to avoid parents using this as a tax free savings route for themselves. It is pretty low, but banks and building societies can advise on this and ways to legally work around this so that you can save for the children.

I've been using Pay pal for over a yr %26amp; as long as you have the funds in yr cr card you shouldn't have a problem.





Being verified just means that Pay pal know that you say who you are %26amp; that merchants can trust you. Some merchants are a bit reticent using unverified PP Accounts. Hope that helps

Recently found out my signature is on a fraternity bank account. Close it or sign it over to current members?

I have been out of school for 3 Years found out my signature is on this account along with another older alumni member. I want to remove myself from this account and avoid any liabilities. I know i am paranoid but have had no oversight on this account for years. Not sure how it could come back on me but want to take precautions. Fraternities can be sued and I am not sure how it could affect me but you never know. I am probaby just paranoid. Any suggestions?

First, find out if the account is still open. If it is not open, then do not worry about it.





If it is still open, is there any money in it? f there is money in it, the money belongs to the fraternity and you need to see that they get the money.





You need to contact the fraternity and see if anyone there has their signature on file. If no, then you need to get someone in the fraternity onto the account so they have access to the money BEFORE you remove your name.
Reply:You should be able to go to the bank and have your name removed. Depending on the bank, you may need the signatures of all of the people currently on the account; it all depends on their rules. I am sure that the people that are currently there would want you off as you have rights and access to that account and the monies in it.

How can i recover my installed programs, my old user account?

I inserted a usb disk drive on my laptop. I tried to copy an AutoCAD file drawn by some Japanese client of ours (in Japanese font). Then I reboot, and suddenly, it kind of reformatted itself and deleted my old user account. All files are still intact but most of the programs doesn't work anymore. I tried to use system restore but all restore points were gone.

You can have This program recover it for you. You don't have to buy it though You get a free 30 day trial use of it when you first install. If you don't like itafter that, just dump it.
